Spider Solitaire: how a round works

Work at your own pace. Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. Use another round to revisit a decision. Before making a move, check the cards in view. Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.

Two decks, one/two/four suits; fill every column before a ten-card stock deal. Free solo play, no wagering.

Try a more deliberate round

A clear plan starts with the current position. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.

From the start of a round

  1. Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Complete same-suit king-to-ace runs to clear them from the tableau.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Using the playing area

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use another round to revisit a decision. Look at the complete hand before deciding.

A closer look at one example

A mixed-suit descending stack cannot move as one group. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.

Watch out for this

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.
